Data Description

Data Unit Description
Set Item Type Native
Equipment Properties Inlet Flow Given If checked (True) the inlet flow is given and the outlet total flow is the inlet total flow plus the steam flow required. If not checked (False) the outlet flow is given and inlet flow is the outlet flow minus the steam required.
Outlet Flow Given If unchecked (False) the inlet flow is given and the outlet total flow is  the inlet total flow plus the steam flow required. If checked (True) the outlet flow is given and inlet flow is the outlet flow minus the steam required.
Outlet Pressure Pressure psia The pressure of the Liquid_Out stream.
Outlet Temperature Temperature F The temperature of the Liquid_Out stream.
Outlet Vapor Fraction Fraction or Percent Fraction The fraction of vapor in the Liquid_Out stream.
Vent Loss Fraction or Percent Fraction The fraction of steam lost to the atmosphere. The total steam required is the stream amount required to meet the outlet conditions plus the steam amount lost to the atmosphere.
No Steam Needed Warning If checked (True) a warning is issued if no steam is needed.

Method&Equations

The Steam Mix calculates the enthalpy of the inlet stream at the outlet conditions you specified and the quantity of heat required as:

       Q = (ENTHI - ENTHO) * INFLO

where:

       Q is the heat required

       ENTHI is the specific enthalpy of the inlet

       ENTHO is the specific enthalpy of the inlet at the outlet conditions you specified

       INFLO is the total mass flow of the first inlet stream

The Steam Mix model also back-calculates the amount of steam required as:

       AMS = (Q / (ESTM - ESOUT)) * (1.0 + VENT)

where:

       AMS is the amount of steam required

       ESTM is the enthalpy of the inlet steam

       ESOUT is the enthalpy of steam at the outlet conditions you specified

       VENT is the vent loss fraction
